SPATE OF INSECURITY: BUHARI PRESIDES OVER SECURITY COUNCIL MEETING

A crucial meeting of the National Security Council is underway at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
President Muhammadu Buhari summoned the meeting following suggestions received from the last Council of State meeting held last week Thursday.
Far reaching and decisive decisions are expected to be taken against the resurgence of violent attacks in parts of the country by criminal elements.
This is aimed at achieving lasting peace, stability and public order in the country.
In attendance at the meeting are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Ministers of Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs and The National Security Adviser.
Also at the meeting are the Service Chiefs, Inspector General of Police as well as Heads of other Security Services.
The meeting is taking place behind closed doors.
In the last few weeks the spate of insecurity in the country has been on the rise, with terrorists having a field day including killing of military personnel.
