NUJ TO PLAY ITS CONSTITUTIONAL ROLE, EMBARKS ON MEDIA TOUR

The Nigeria Union of Journalists says arrangements have been concluded to undertake a tour of states to inspect projects being executed and to report accordingly.

A statement by the national president of the Union, Chris Isiguzo says the tour which will commence next week with Lagos state is in line with the media’s constitutional role of holding Government and its officials accountable to the people.

Isigugo says the initiative which is a collaboration between the NUJ and the Red Carpet organisation, will serve as a tool in showcasing and assessing the achievements, policies and programmes of Governments and help in deepening democracy .

The statement explains that Journalists will also take time to participate in interactive sessions with Governors and their teams, ask critical questions and therefore report based on what they find on ground for the people of the respective states and Nigerians at large to form their opinions and make informed decisions.
