MAMA BOKO HARAM AND TWO OTHERS SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IMPRISONMENT

The Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri has convicted and sentenced Aisha Alkali Wakili also known as Mama Boko Haram and two others to five years imprisonment  without option of fine for fraud to the tune of more than seventy one million naira.

The  defendants were re-arraigned in 2020 on a two- count charge of conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretence by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

A statement by the head of Media and publicity of the Commission says the defendants pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the counts.

In a judgment, Justice Alisha Kumaliya held that the prosecution proved its case against the defendants and consequently pronounced them guilty .

The Judge further ordered the convicts to pay the sum of Thirty Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira as compensation to their victim.

In default, they shall serve  an additional ten years prison term.
