UThere are strong indications that the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee presently investigating the status of Nigerian refineries has threatened to invoke warrant of arrest on the Minister of State, Petroleum, NNPC GMD and the General Managers of the three refineries for their alleged failure to honour the invitation of the committee over the $3.7 billion contract to rehabilitate the three refineries in the country.
The Chairman of the committee, Committee
Ganiyu Johnson, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the failure of the invitees to honour the invitation.
According to him, this is the third time the affected officials are ignoring the invitation, describing it as a disregard to the committee and the National Assembly as an institution.
He explained that, the house wants to find out why despite the huge amount spent on the repairs of the three refineries of Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna, Nigeria continues to import refined petroleum products for its domestic use.
The committee therefore resolved to summon the top four oil and gas officials on Thursday next week, failure to which constitutional measures would be taken against them.
