The House of Representatives has decried President Muhammad Buhari’s refusal to assent to the recent amended Electoral Act, 2022
The issue came up under matters of urgent national importance raised by a member from Delta State, Ben Igbakpa at the plenary.
The lawmaker expressed concern over the delay by the President to assent to the Act, noting that the amended legislation was meant to address the loopholes in the existing Act.
The Deputy Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu stressed the need for a thorough reform, as the existing Act is the same with 2010 Electoral Act.
